Vitalant: Registered Nurse (Rn) – Research

This is a Full-time position in Pittsburgh, PA posted January 25, 2021.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:Provides research coordination in a comprehensive clinical/ research environment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations.

Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.* Assures quality customer service to all customers.* Maintains good attendance and punctuality per the absence policy.* Carry out all aspects of Clinical Research studies and projects, including: Schedule appointments for patient research study visits.

Coordinate recruitment of research subjects.

Obtain informed consent and maintain confidential files for all subjects enrolled on studies.

Complete clinical assessments and brief patient evaluations for each visit.* Provide timely, organized approach to obtaining laboratory tests for research projects.* Assist in coordination of projects with University, Vitalant, sponsoring agencies, pharmaceuticals, NIH, governmental agencies.* Coordinate research visits with the UPMC research facilities (GCRC and IDS).

Perform all tasks required for research visits.

Assist Research Coordinator as needed for RN licensed procedures.* Maintain drug accountability.

Maintain timely and orderly blood sample storage in scientific study freezers.* Complete electronic diary and CRF submissions as required for each project.* Attend meetings related to research protocols locally and with industry sponsor.

Coordinate research projects at multi-center sites, including timely phone follow up.

Meet regularly with the Center Director to review progress and issues on active research projects.* Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:Knowledge/Education* Graduate from accredited School of Nursing or Associates degree required.* Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.Licenses/ CertificationsActive Nursing license in the State of PA is required.Experience* Two years’ experience hands-on nursing, including venipuncture and/or phlebotomy skills required.* Research experience preferred.Skills/Abilities* Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.* Must be able to maintain confidentiality.* Ability to work independently and to collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team.* Strong written and oral communication skills required.* Applicable skills in Microsoft Office and/or Microsoft 365.
