Human Resources Intern

Matthews International

At Matthews International, we are currently seeking a highly motivated Human Resources Intern to join our Corporate HR team. 

The Human Resource Intern will focus on business unit specific employee training and development programs  as well as international immigration processes and development of a toolkit for use in preparing transferees for the onset of the immigration process. Additionally, this role provides exposure to various human resource disciplines, including recruiting, strategic workforce planning, employee relations, performance management and pay practices.  

The Intern will work directly with Sr. Human Resource Business Partners supporting various parts of the business strategies while learning the core functions of the HR Business Partner role.  Individual contributions include, researching best practices, contributing to the day-to-day operations of HR, design of specific programs and contributions to a variety of projects for use with HR Strategies aligned to the business.

  • You will support day-to-day operations of the HR department developing a general understanding of all aspects of administration of HR functions including policies, procedures and processes. 
  • Your primary focus will be working on training and development programs as well as the development of an international immigration toolkit. 
  • You will provide assistance with research on best practices specific to identified projects as needed. 
  • Collaborate with Compensation, Talent Management and Managers on the creation of Role Profiles.
  • Additional duties are assigned.


  • Current enrollment in graduate or undergraduate degree program in Human Resources, International Stuidies or a related field at a recognized college or university
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Vizio, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
