For more information, visit www.ethicon.com.nn nnThe Staff Embedded Software Engineer, Advanced Imaging, will be driving early to mid-stage projects feasibility to charter and next steps in the stage-gate process, more particularly develop and embody imaging algorithms and processing steps into an API that will work closely with underlying hardware, to process surgical imaging and achieve speed, quality and unparalleled informative, surgical visualization.  More generally, Staff Engineer will be a key contributor to help advance our Advanced Imaging product development pipeline.nn nnKey Responsibilities:nn nnSoftware development and maintenance activities for image analysis and acquisition software packages.nn nnLead development, debugging, testing, deployment, maintenance and all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)nn nnDesign and implement new embedded software based on future product requirements, propose hardware, software and system requirements for newly developed applications by examining design criteria and system feasibilitynn nnDesign and develop custom solutions in embedded C and/or C++.

Maintain and improve existing embedded software packagesnn nnDevelop and test embedded firmware using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers as needed.  Test code on the target application board.nn nnKey contributor in team-based creation of requirements, specifications, architecture and design of final product.nn nnWork with product engineering team to provide access to software, system and documentation to facilitate product testing and release.nn nnMaintain software documentation and resources by creating and maintaining release notes, system specifications and design documentationnn nnCollaborate with internal engineering teams and external partners (as needed) to define and execute functional and performance testing as well as debugging. nn nnProvide software release packages with appropriate release notes and documentation that aids quality assurance in the testing of the overall systems.nn nnEffectively communicate opportunities, status, risks, and recommendations to peers and project partners.nn nnQualificationsnn nnEducation:nn nnRequires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Software/Computer/Electrical Engineering or a related science/engineering degree; an Advanced Degree is helpful.nn nnExperience and Skills:nn nnRequires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experiencenn nnMinimum of 3 years of experience in embedded systems requirednn nnDemonstrated experience with C and/or C++ design, development and troubleshooting requirednn nnFamiliar with Source Code Control, build and release management (Git, Subversion etc.) requirednn nnLinux experience preferrednn nnExperience with development of Imaging Software/Digital Image Processing highly desirednn nnFamiliarity with standard image signal processing (ISP) pipelines highly preferrednn nnFamiliarity with FPGA software development (Xilinx, Intel) desirablenn nnExperience with CUDA/GPU development preferrednn nnExperience with OpenCV preferrednn nnAbility to architect systems and hardware highly preferrednn nnTrack record in R&D delivering solutions within a complex system architecture is desirednn nnStrong interpersonal and communication skillsnn nnKnowledge/experience with agile development process (SCRUM) preferrednn nnExperience with design control activities and design history file implementation per FDA & CE mark standards for medical devices preferrednn nnPosition may require up to 15% domestic and international travel.
