Neuropsychology Vice Chair

nnThe University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) are seeking a licensed, board-certified Neuropsychologist to serve as the Vice Chair for Neuropsychology, leading our growing adult and children’s neuropsychology programs.

Faculty appointment within the tenure track commensurate with experience will be considered.  The newly appointed Vice Chair will interact with departmental and hospital leadership in coordination of services and quality outcomes, and will be responsible for overseeing all clinical and research activities related to the provision of neuropsychological services in the Department of PM&R.

The Vice Chair will lead research and clinical faculty in continuing to build a nationally-recognized Neuropsychology Division focused on improving patient outcomes.  The neuropsychology service contributes to patient care, education, and research efforts within the UPMC system.

As a whole, our robust rehabilitation practice has over 170 inpatient rehabilitation beds at eight locations.

While adult providers focus on PM&R populations, the Pediatric Neuropsychology Service also contributes to the care of patients across divisions within Children’s Hospital.

Neuropsychology faculty work together in an interdisciplinary way to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Neuropsychology faculty also contribute to the educational mission of UPMC (e.g., collaborate on training curricula).

Additionally, the PM&R Department is the national leader in regard to research, receiving the highest amount of NIH funding nationally.

This aspect of the department highlights a commitment to research, and recognition of the benefits cutting-edge research provides in both clinical care and education arenas.

Examples of current research foci include: investigation of biomarkers of recovery from pediatric and adult traumatic brain injury, interventions for improving health and wellness in spina bifida, neurorehabilitation and brain-computer interface technology, and health care delivery in children with disabilities.
