Sr. Compliance Principal- Head of Compliance Technology Strategy, Governance & Risk Architecture

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have experience in designing strategies and plans to define how technology should be utilized to support the organization’s regulatory lifecycle including regulatory change management, compliance risk assessment, compliance testing, issues tracking and governance and reporting. He/She will use their understanding of Compliance and their affinity with technology to define the strategy, enterprise-architecture and transformation roadmaps of Compliance technology. He/She has knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technologies, and apply these to develop an innovative and holistic Compliance technology strategy. This role will report to the global head of Governance and Risk Architecture function.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Lead a team to drive the design and implementation of integrated regulatory reform solutions
  • Define the Compliance technology roadmap and it’s connectivity to the broader Governance, Risk and Compliance architecture
  • Develop recommendations for each of the core Governance and Risk Architecture component parts and translate them into actionable plans
  • Act as liaison between Compliance, the business and Technology
  • Apply project management and regulatory expertise to oversee delivery of a large portfolio of projects
  • Work across three lines of defense to develop holistic solutions and outcomes
  • Manage communication flow between all relevant parties to ensure all stakeholders are engaged and aware of the roadmap, the underlying initiatives, timelines, risks and issues
  • Handle escalation of issues that will significantly impact delivery of the project or program
  • Facilitate delivery of technology roadmap within agreed timeframes and budgets
  • Plan ahead for future possibilities and translate these into actionable proposals/business plans


  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 15+ years of total work experience preferred with at least 5 years in management preferred.
  • Knowledge of the various functions within financial services/asset servicing industry is preferred
  • Management Consulting background is highly preferred, as well as exposure to a complex regulatory environment
  • Experience running high impact programs as a consultant or internal change group
  • Has a sound understanding of the commercial environment and competitors’ products and experience working with highly-complex, high quantity, often contradictory information
  • Has fully developed analytical and communication skills, works independently under pressure, innovatively problem solves and is able to effectively attain buy-in from others to drive solutions forward
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Ability to seamlessly communicate complex technical issues to non-technical colleagues.
