Fundraising Program Director

Planned Parenthood Western PA

This is a Contract position in Pittsburgh, PA posted February 25, 2021.

Planned Parenthood Western Pennsylvania (PPWP) is the local affiliate of the country’s leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider.  PPWP operates six health centers located in Allegheny, Westmoreland, Cambria and Somerset Counties and provides education and advocacy services throughout western Pennsylvania.

The Fundraising Program Director oversees the agency’s fundraising, marketing, and external communication programs.   The Fundraising Program Director is responsible for planning and carrying out the donor acquisition and retention strategies and working with the CEO and Board of Directors to accomplish annual fundraising goals.

Essential job functions

  • Develop an agency fundraising strategy and annual work plan for the Development Department. 
  • Implement and oversee the fundraising program including:
  • Special events – coordinate all fundraising events including staffing the special events committee, planning, and organizing events and ensuring volunteer involvement. 
  • Direct mail/email solicitation – manage electronic and postal mail contact to donors including solicitation letters, newsletters,  and annual report.
  • Cultivation of major donors through person solicitation and special events  – implement strategies to increase current donor commitment and giving to the organization and encourage planned giving.
  • Foundation  solicitation – coordinate all aspects of foundation giving including researching for new foundation donors, preparing grant proposals, organizing, and facilitating foundation meetings and meeting report guidelines.
  • Other  – explore opportunities to increase contributions through online giving and other fundraising vehicles.
  • Implement donor prospect activities to increase contributions to the agency. 
  • Assist with developing and monitoring the Development Department budget.
  • Work with other departments to secure funding for special projects.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of special agency campaigns such as endowment and capital campaigns, when needed.  Work with the Board of Directors and CEO to coordinate and facilitate their participation in PPWP’s fundraising program.
  • Supervise development and communications department staff.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a marketing plan annually to promote agency programs and services.
  • Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board Development Committee and the Fund Development Committee.

Qualifications and other essential functions:
·       College degree
·       Minimum three years’ experience in fundraising and one-year supervisory experience,
·       Excellent written communication skills,
·       Ability to verbally communicate publicly in a professional, effective manner,
·       Flexible schedule for evening and weekend meetings
·       Ability to use telecommunications
·       Ability to type and be computer literate.
